so, because ive got this TEEVEE on my desk, i had (yes, i was flipping i promise) OPRAH on the thing the other day and watched how the area of Monticeto down in the Hell-A area, practically burned down.

yea, nothing special as far as southern california wildfires go, but this area, is where most of the gay stars live.  and there was a still picture of Rob Lowe on the tv as on the phone, oprah was talking to him about what happened.

now i dont wish ill will on ANYONE, esp things like the tragidy of losing your house, your loved ones, ect...

but for some reason i had a real hard time feeling much compassion....

why is that?  is it because they are stinking rich?

wunder am i showing my facist colors?

the most intersting thing about it is, due to the wind direction, it seems NOBODY knew it was even coming.  and the next thing some knew, a firestorm of 200 foot flames just poured though at 70 MPH.

Irish, what did you hear about this, your down there.

did you smell the smoke and see the glow?

it's amazing, that after a million years of evolution, we still build dwellings out of stuff that burns

dood thats not the half of it.

that area, and another up in the hills behind Hell-A, the mountains are like perp-steep. and when they burn, theres NO FUCKING WAY to get any type of equipment in there.

and lets not forget to mention the piece of shit earth hippies who want your hands out of everywhere and let 'nature take its course'

bunch of idiots.

oh, and rob lowe called, he wants to know if anyone can put him up on their sofa today?

yeah, the shell of the house might remain standing after a fire.  but since it will have cracked from the heat, it will have to be demolished anyway.   and it would not meet the earthquake building codes.

keeping the fuel for the fires at a minimum is the only practical way of reducing the risk in that area.

hey IRISH, you still smelling these fires?

we have no budget.

we have no water.

we are so fucked this coming summer.

this may be the time to look for that property in Sequim or Port Angeles like i had been planning.

Z, hows the fishing and the economy up there right now?  my deep sea salmon fishing is closed and will be closed for another year. MINIMUM.

(and i promise not to bring any hippies with me)

heh,

thanks for the invite to TeeHas.

i love the food and the people there.  my views are more inline with the thinking of a state that can to this day still has in their constitution the ability to secede from the union.

however,

the pacific runs in my blood, and besides going north, i don't ever see the Java family being further than an hour or so from mother P.

plus, my parents moved back down to the area to be close to their grandchildren, and ive realized that at this point i have responsibilities and im living for more than just the immediate 'me'
